Summer reading teasers

So this is the beginning of my summer reading ....I have decided to give you the first few lines of each book and maybe one of them will pull you in and you will have to go and buy it ! So here is the line up :

1. Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith

"Ondine Mason hated butterflies. That wasn't true. She just hated orange butterflies. No that wasn't true either. What she really hated were the orange butterflies painted on her blue ceiling, the ones she was staring at as she tried to wake up."

Going to read next :

1. Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

"Mercy Falls, Minnesota, looked different when you knew you'd be human for the rest of your life."

2. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

""When they write my obituary. Tomorrow. Or the next day. It will say, LEO GURSKY IS SURVIVED BY AN APARTMENT FULL OF SHIT. I'm surprised I haven't been buried alive."

3. Tricks by Ellen Hopkins ( this is a novel but she writes her novels in poem format ...amazing by the way )

"But do they know
to craft fiction ? Do
they know how to spin
lies ?
His eyes swear forever,
flatter with vows of only
me. But are they empty
promises ?"

4. Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by Alan Bradley

"It was as black in the closet as old blood. They had shoved me in and locked the door . I breathed heavily through my nose , fighting desperately to remain calm."

5. Spanking Shakespeare by Jake Wizner

"It was hard to imagine what my parents were thinking when they decided to name me Shakespeare. They were probably drunk, considering the fact that my father is an alchoholic and my mother gets loopy after one glass of wine."
