Two days into Christmas vacation and I am almost done my first book ! ( I am the messenger ... by Markus Zusak ) Having seriously taken myself to the edge of overload prior to Dec 19 .... this time to re-charge is most welcome . Here are some of my plans / things I have discovered over my 4 days of freedom from marking/planning/teaching :
1. Tomorrow I am going to attempt to make shortbread . This will be the only Christmas baking that I will be doing . Hopefully it will kick ass as I plan to give it as the homemade portion of my gifts. I had a brief moment of optimism while flipping through the latest Martha Stewart mag ... I actually thought I would try to bake some of the amazing things on those glossy pages ... nope. I am however going to try to make the pillar candles covered in Hodge podge glue and rolled in Epsom salt !
2. Emma and I got the glue gun out yesterday and made the cute little snowmen pictured above out of pom poms, felt etc .... love the glue gun ! I decided during the craft session that I wanted to organize all of my crafting supplies . I had this vision of jars and boxes all labeled ...... it was a nice thought but it did not happen !
3. I have learned that gin and tonic tastes way better in a tall glass with lots and lots of lemon and lime and ice and with a bit of mixed pepper corns ground on the top !
4. The roast port tenderloin with whisky sauce from Supper Works is awesome ( so is supper works if you have not tried it !!!)
5. Oscar ( our dog ) is till afraid to poop on snow but I am determined to get him over this over the next week !
6. Christmas Eve is going to be spent with good friends , and Indian food ordered in !
7. The snow blower is assembled in the garage ..... so bring it on !
8. Looking forward to more reading, drinking, eating and generally enjoying myself !!
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!
